Comfone participates in trial to enhance public Wi-Fi access experience for users

Comfone, in its role as WLAN Hub provider, is taking part in the Seamless Roaming Trial initiated by the Fixed Mobile Convergence Alliance (FMCA) and the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA). The two telecommunication global alliances are conducting the trial together with 3 hub providers, including Comfone, and 15 operators. The aim of the trial is to demonstrate large scale service deployment of EAP/802.1x WLAN access, inter-connection and routing through hubs and to verify the inter-operability of mobile devices with EAP methods.

EAP, Extensible Authentication Protocol, is foreseen as the key authentication method for interworking between mobile WiMAX and WiFi. It allows generic authentication using a SIM/USIM card, SSL certificates or username/password. Comfone, a pioneer and early supporter of SIM-based authentication for WLAN access, recognises this trial as a founding stone for its multi-technology hub strategy.

Comfone wins Award at Mobile Asia Congress in Macau

As the GSMA Asia Congress in Macau, SAR, comes to a close, Comfone reports on the many achievements enjoyed over the course of the event.

Our successes began early on. Comfone was the proud recipient of the Award for being China Unicom’s ‘Outstanding Business Partner’ during China Unicom’s annual International Partner’s Meeting the day before the Congress began. Comfone’s Board Member, Mr. Toni Stadelmann, gratefully accepted the Award on behalf of the entire team at Comfone who has worked closely with China Unicom since 2006. Comfone’s commitment to high quality services and fast reaction times was rewarded with this unique prize.

During the same occasion, a special signature ceremony in the presence of Mr Chang Xiaobing, China Unicom’s President, took place, where China Unicom, a Comfone Key2roam member, committed to furthering their partnership with Comfone by extending our service provision into a new service area.

The meeting, a mix of presentations, ceremony and dinner, was attended by operators from all over the world as well as just a handful vendors, one of which was Comfone.

Yesterday, Comfone’s CEO, Mr. Mathias Prüssing, participated in the GSMA’s Open Connectivity & Global Roaming Quality Seminar. The Seminar aroused a great deal of interest in Comfone’s solution for Open Connectivity and Mathias Prüssing’s presentation on the key topic of “Roaming Hub Evolution” stimulated many questions.

The event as a whole has been a huge success for Comfone, with many opportunities to meet existing customers and partners, as well as future ones.

Latin America office hosts a tour of the Maracanã Stadium On the 20. August, Comfone's Latin America office had the pleasure to host an exceptional evening at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The event consisted of a tour at the stadium and an evening spent with a VIP view over the football match of Flamengo v/s Grêmio. The twenty-eight guests had a fantastic time.

The event took place during the GSMLA Mobile Conference in Rio de Janeiro, where the agenda during the conference had been fully booked. It was Comfone's intention to give attendees the opportunity to visit one of the most important tourist venues of the city, as well as to experience the highlight of attending a match at the Maracanã Stadium.

Comfone hosts special event at BARG meeting in Vienna

On Sunday 12. October, Comfone customers were invited to enjoy a horse carriage ride through Vienna and later to dine at one of the best restaurants in the city.

Comfone is happy to take every opportunity to share an enjoyable time with our customers. At BARG Vienna, Géraldine Philippe, member of the Board of Directors, and Mathias Prüssing, Comfone CEO, along with a number of Comfone Sales Directors, took the chance to spend an evening together with more than 50 of our customers from all different regions of the world.
