100 networks signed up for Key2roam®

Comfone is happy to announce that 100 mobile networks have now chosen Key2roam® and are part of our roaming and interworking community

Comfone’s success at reaching the noteworthy number of ‘100’ agreements for our Key2roam® service owes greatly to the trust and conviction our very first customers showed in both Comfone and our trendsetting service, Key2roam®. Since service launch in 2004, operators around the world have chosen to work with the first roaming solution on the market and we are now proud to communicate news to all of you that confirms Key2roam members have made the right decision! Over the last four years Comfone has enlarged its worldwide footprint and provided a service offering constant improvements to Key2roam’s community members.

Today’s market activities and progression towards hubbing solutions proves that Comfone was ahead of other market players when it first announced Key2roam®. Based on an ambitious programme of innovations we have planned the rollout of exciting new Key2roam features to Comfone's truly neutral roaming hub to further benefit Key2roam members in 2008. The first of such new features is the integration of the SMS Interworking Hub for Key2roam.

SMS Interworking Hub for Key2roam® members

Comfone’s SMS Interworking solution requires only a simple additional annex to a member’s existing Key2roam agreement. The operator then achieves automatic access to Comfone’s SMS Interworking Hub based on the commercial and technical relationship already established with Comfone Key2roam.

The Key2roam member will then benefit from:

  • Access to the entire Key2roam footprint for SMS Interworking
  • Ensured end-to-end responsibility by Comfone
  • Same level of transparency as provided by bilateral solutions and as stipulated in the AA.19
  • No additional fixed costs
  • New SMS Interworking relations opened within a short timeframe
  • Reduced complexity
  • Full compliancy with GSMA recommendations, supporting all required features, such as traffic filtering by white list, fraud prevention tools and procedures, full routing transparency including Online Reporting and detailed and transparent invoices
  • Comfone’s on-going participation in the GSMA’s Open Connectivity Project, ensuring Key2roam members the very latest in new features and requirements
  • Interoperability features enabling reach to CDMA networks and to the extended technical features of the Comfone SMS-Interworking Hub

Comfone’s roaming training courses

Since the very beginning of the year our Training and Technical Consulting Team have been busy holding a total of 13 training courses around the world as well as at Comfone's Headquarters. The team had the pleasure to visit many countries in Africa and the Middle East and many customers visited our Headquarters in Bern, Switzerland, for their personalised training courses. In addition, Comfone held three week-long in-house training courses taking place at different times during the year.

The main agenda for these Comfone Roaming Seminars were:

  • Roaming Management Overview (1st day)
  • Signalling for Roaming Overview (2nd day)
  • GPRS Roaming Overview (3rd day)
  • Data and Finance Clearing Overview (4th day)

In order to provide one of the best quality training courses available on the market, Comfone offers specific trainings tailored to the special requirements of our customers. It’s well known that every operator has their own needs, meaning a fixed agenda would often not fulfil all the operators’ expectations.

Comfone is happy to introduce to you our Senior Technical Consultant, Manuel Lopez . He has been in the roaming business for several years and is responsible for the training sessions, together with Comfone's Technical Consultant Djamel Ouadjaout.

Comfone's Technical Operations Team (TC-OP)

Comfone would like to present our TC-OP team to all Customers, in order to introduce you to the people you may be in contact with when requiring assistance in Comfone service handling.

Service fulfillment, assurance and billing at a technical level are provided by specialists from Comfone’s Technical Operation. TC-OP handles technical implementation of all services (fulfillment), all 2nd level troubleshooting, maintenance and restoration, and performance issues (assurance), and ensures all relevant data collection and measurement (billing). Also, TC-OP implements and maintains all systems/platforms used in providing Comfone’s services.

TC-OP main tasks:

2nd level support:

  • Service troubleshooting, Maintenance and Restoration
  • Network and routing problem handling
