Bern, Switzerland, 05 March, 2009 – Comfone’s application to be certified as an official Roaming Hub Provider has been approved by the GSM Association (GSMA) according to the Association’s AD.23 certification scheme introduced for Roaming Hubs. Roaming Hubs enable mobile operators to establish multiple roaming relationships with networks around the world through a single, standard roaming agreement with a hub. Through official certification, Comfone, the international mobile roaming specialist, is now successfully registered as being compliant with the Open Connectivity High Level Requirements defined for Roaming Hubbing solutions.
Mathias Prüssing, Comfone CEO, said, “Certification by the GSMA once more confirms Comfone’s leading position as Number One Roaming Hub in today’s marketplace and closely follows our recent announcement of achieving the milestone of 100 live networks connected to Comfone’s successful Key2roam Roaming Hub. Comfone’s competence in hub services provision dates back further than any other provider, to 1997, and our hub roaming and interconnection services are unique as they include a complete portfolio of GSM, SMS, GRX, IP Interconnect, MMS, 3G, HSPA, CAMEL, WLAN and WiMAX roaming services.”
The certification follows on from Comfone’s instrumental participation in the GSMA’s successful Open Connectivity Roaming Hub Trial last year. Comfone, the only participant in the trial operating a commercial hub, was the first and only contributor to launch a live roaming hubbing relation during the trial, proving the effective working of the approved roaming hubbing architectures. Comfone actively participates in GSMA standardisation and Working Groups and during the GSMA’s upcoming BARG, Roamfest and Hubfest meetings in the Republic of Mauritius next week, Comfone representatives will continue to contribute their expertise.
Comfone’s hubs enable global connectivity and simplified roaming procedures for mobile operators and network providers through a choice of different roaming hubbing solutions. Comfone Key2roam hub, currently interconnecting 105 live networks, takes over full financial liability on behalf of the client operators. Comfone GCS, a technical hub, provides centralisation of signalling and roaming management for operators. Further Comfone hubs include Comfone WeRoam, an open roaming platform connecting over 60 Wireless ISPs and providing an aggregated footprint of more than 45’000 hotspots around the world, as well as Comfone’s SMS and MMS Hubs.
